Example Application - Headless Digital Video Recorder
In todays world there is an ever growing need for capturing live video footage for playback at a later date. Using off the shelf
Advanced Micro Peripherals products it is possible to create a Digital Video recorder which is ideally suited to archiving video data
from multiple sources to removable storage.
Controlling the system is AMP's ultra rugged Micro886ULP PC/104+ Computer.
This computer consumes less than 10W of power (Max) and its highly integrated nature allows for remote control
of the system via either LAN or Serial ports for situations where direct access to the system is not always possible.

The MPEG4000 brings the latest MPEG4 Video Encoding technologies to the system. The MPEG4000 allows for a variety of capture
scenarios, including full-size, full-framerate encoding of a single channel, and quarter size full-framerate encoding of all 4-channels.
Each of the 4-Channels can come from one of 4 possible analogue inputs and all encoding options (quality, bitrate etc.) are fully
configurable under software control.
The IEEE-1394 standard popularly known as "Firewire" is an ideal way of connecting removable storage to the Digital
Video Recording system and AMP's FireSpeed2000 brings Firewire connectivity to PC/104+ systems. The Hot-plug feature allows storage
drives to be swapped out as required without having to power cycle the system.
