mini PCI

The mini PCI specification was originally created to serve the laptop market and is designed to be highly compact sub-set of the standard PCI specification. These tiny modules are designed for 32 bit bus operation only and to support limited I/O functionality. This suits the requirements for video capture and compression cards where there are very few separate connections to the module. The mini PCI specification is still focused on small embedded x86 compatible PC boards but several manufacturers have now expanded the range of host CPU cards to include ARM and PowerPC products. Due to the small size and low mass of mini PCI card, they are also well suited to applications exposed to high shock and vibration.

AMP produces the microMPEG4 mini PCI card which serves as a four channel frame grabber / MPEG-4 compression module. The card is supported by for x86, ARM and PowerPC platforms.
