Introducing: Rugged AI Streaming Appliance For Intelligent Surveillance – HydraAI

AMP’s Hydra systems are developed to help customers to solve a particular application requirement. They are the culmination of the considerable experience AMP has in helping customers refine project specifications, advising on product selection, systems integration and application development. AMP Hydra solutions help shorten the product development cycle and allow the customer to take benefit of our experience.

The demonstration system for Embedded World 2026 is a Hydra configuration combining AMP’s JetStream AI Video platform and XStream-HD ultra-low latency dual channel HD-SDI streamer. This system demonstrates building rugged, complex, video systems with AI processing.

The combination of the JetStream-SDI and XStream-HD allows multi-channel, low latency video streaming systems to be built that use the AI engine of the JetStream to do intelligent edge processing of a wide range of video inputs.

Application Recipe

This configuration of the HydraAI runs a face detection model and is designed for applications in mass transit, public infrastructure, security, and situational awareness.

The JetStream performs AI inference to detect faces and display bounding boxes on the annotated output, providing clear visual awareness. The system can also generate facial embeddings – mathematical representations of facial features – enabling optional re-identification across cameras or HydraAI systems. These may integrate with identity databases for security workflows or be used anonymously to analyse movement patterns and operational trends.

Example applications include detecting unauthorised access to restricted areas, monitoring passenger flow, and reconstructing movement paths during investigations. Additional analytics such as estimated age range, facial expressions, and dwell time support behavioural insights and resource planning.

The XStream-HD enables incident recording triggered by JetStream events, embedding AI metadata into the video stream for remote monitoring and post-event review.

For privacy-focused demonstrations, the system operates in no-storage mode: detected faces are blurred and no images, embeddings, or metadata are retained.
